Pat,
What I put in the original message was all the information on McLaurin/McLaren that was in the book. After a quick look at WorldConnect Project, I did find some John A. McLaurins listed as born in Canada, but not in Templeton. If you haven't used WorldConnect Project, you might want to take a look at what has been posted to it. The problem I usually have is that not everyone spells the names the same or they use only one name or a nickname that I'm not familiar with. Without any dates, it is even more difficult to determine which is the correct person. Also, take a look at what is posted on Family Search for the Mormon site. Sometimes it will carry the 1880 census for Canada and you might find some information there as well as under the other entries. Do look under McLaurin, McLauren, McLaren. Do check to see if Templeton, Quebec, has a genweb site. Someone there might be able to help you. Our elusive ancestors are still waiting for us to find them. Good luck on your search.
Barbara
