Tina, the information that you have is correct. The McLaurins sailed from Scotland in August of 1790 and arrived in Wilmington N.C. in December. There were about sixteen families of the name who came over and scattered. Some going North, some farther South but most settling around the NC/SC border in Richmond County, now Scotland. Laurinburg was named in honor of the clan. Duncan and his wife Mary, also a McLaurin by birth, lived at Laurel Hill about five miles to the NE of Laurinburg. This was named in honor of the badge of the Clan Laurin, a sprig of mountain laurel.

Most of my McLaurin information concerns North Carolina, as that is my lineage, but I have some other. Let me know if there is anything you need and I might have info on it.

Jack
