Hi Karin, I have nothing more that I can add on the ancestors of Peter Thomas McLaughlin, I do not know when Peter's brother John moved/migrated to Canada, wether it was after comming to the USA or directly from Ireland. According to family info: Peter went to visit John in 1834. Peter and John's parents were still in Ireland because Peter went to claim their estate in 1855, after their deaths. It appears that a friend of his clamed the estate and Peter had to go to court to get it back, then he suddenly died (foul play?)and nothing further was heard about the estates and fortune. I have no idea what his sister's names were. I'm sorry don't think that your John is Peter's brother. I wish I could have helped you more.
