I was interested in knowing more on your family as my gx3grandfather, John McLaughlin, came to Canada in 1834 as far as I know and settled in York twp close to what is now the Toronto area. He gave his occupation as "shoemaker" on 1852 census here. At that time his parents, John age 71 and Mary age 66 were living with them. John Sr. was also a shoemaker. Does this sound like anything you may have? Karin
