Hello, Here are some McLaughlins in the 1866 State Census, Jefferson County, AL. Most are the children of John McLaughlin who married Margaret Brinker. Many McLaughlins married McGuires, who are in my line. The source for this is the 1866 AL State Census from the Birmingham Library. By the way, the census taker was notoriously incorrect in some other listings I have seen, so your ancestor may be there, even though no one of exactly the right age is in the household. To begin: Joseph McLaughlin, three males 0 - 10, one male 20 - 30, two females 10 - 20 and one female 20 - 30. (Joseph married Alsy McGuire) John McLaughlin, one male 20 - 30, one female 10 - 20. (Could be John, married Martha Vann) H. McLaughlin, one male 20 - 30, one female 10 - 20. (Probably Hezekiah Balch McLaughlin, married Mary Ragsdale) W. H. McLaughlin, two males 20 -30, three females 0 - 10, four females 10 - 20, and one female 20 - 30. (Probably William H., married Mary Jane McGuire) A. McLaughlin, two males 0 - 10, one male 10 - 20, and one male 20 - 30; two females 0 - 10, and one female 20 - 30. (Probably Alexander, married Mahala McGuire) When I have more time, I'll try to figure out who more of these folks are and post it. Notify Administrator about this message?
