I am researching a family of McLaughlin, who lived in Leitrim Co. Ireland. FACTS 1) In Cloone parish (1833 Tithebooks) in the townland of Mahanaugh (now called Lissagarvan)lived a family of James McLaughlin. "James McLaughlin and company". *I have research from Leitrim Co. which indicates that it was common for the married children to live in the same area as the parents of the bride. It is my belief that there were several families living on the James McLaughlin land. 2)My GGGreat-grandfather James Tague mrd. Mary McLaughlin from Manaugh Townland. MARRIAGE: Mahanagh Townland, Cloone Parish, Leitrim County, Ireland July 12, 1823-Cloone Parish, Leitrim County, Ireland (St. Mary's Church) Joined in Matrimony, James Tague and Mary McGloughlan. Sponsors: William McGlaughan & Frances Koyne. *Sponsor is William McLaughlin (possibly a brother). 3) I have 2 children's baptisms which list as McLaughlin as godparents. "April 13, 1824-In Mahanagh baptized Elizabeth dau of James Teague and Mary McGlaughan. Sponsors: Michael McGlaughan and Ann Flynn" "April 13, 1826-Baptized Anna of James Tiague and Mary McGlaughan. Sponsors: Patrick McG- and Catharine McGlaughan. *Elizabeth's godparent was Michael McLaughlin...Ann's godparents were Patrick and Catherine McLaughlin. These few records are what tie my family to the Mahanagh area of Cloone. I have other baptisms, of this time, from the Mahanagh Townland area in Cloone. I lack the information to sort this family out. Can anyone help? Notify Administrator about this message?
