Looking for any info on McLauchlin's/McLaughlin's Families in Georgia Pre 1850

My particular McLauchlin family line is from a James McLaughlin in Laurens Co., Georgia born 1797, possible son of John and Margaret McLauchlan in Montgomery Co., in 1820. There seems to be very few McLaughlin/McLauchlin's in GA around this time and the ones that are there seem to have floated down from the McLauchlin's in Richmond Co., NC. Just trying to put together the Georgia McLaughlin/McLauchlin families to determine which families were the first in GA and where they came from and if they possibly came oversees together.
