Hello Margaret, I just posted a reply to Mr Hinton East's posting on the Jamaica forum, and did not notice that he had also posted his query on this forum! I am very interested to hear that you have a transcription of Mary Elizabeth Maclaverty's will, and would love to see it, also any other information you may have on this family. I am researching the family of my 4x great-grandparents John Rankin and Elizabeth MacLarty (23 Sep 1763, Campbelltown, Argyll - 7 Aug 1831, Largs, Ayrshire), and have extended the search to her siblings, including Dr Colin McLarty, of Chestervale, Jamaica, and Sanda House and Keilcolmkeill, Kintyre, Argyllshire, and Dr Alexander McLarty/Maclaverty (Apr 1774- ca 7 Apr 1821) of Jamaica and Scotland. I know that Alexander had three children, Alexander, Colin and Isabella Groves, and I think that Colin may be the Rev. Colin Maclaverty? The date of his birth certainly fits. I would be very glad to know if this is the case, and would be glad to share any information on the Maclavertys. As well as being related through Elizabeth MacLarty, I was interested to find that Alexander MacLarty/Maclaverty's wife was Isabella Rattray, half-sister of my 3x great-grandfather Dr Hinton Spalding, of Jamaica and Scotland. What is your connection with the family? I look forward to hearing from you, cheers, Rebecca Notify Administrator about this message?
