McLarty Family Genealogy Forum

Vicki, I am not certain of Curtis` middle name. My info comes from a fairly complete family history handout prepared by my cousin for a 1988 family reunion; and it was based on a genealogy book written by a McLarty from N. Carolina. My grandmother was a widow when she married Wm. Tell in 1899, and her married name at the time was "Price". Whether that has any connection to Curtis` middle name is not known. I have an obit for a Louine (McLarty) Barnes who died 09-28-00 in Arlington, Tx, near Ft. Worth, but her age is shown as 99(?). Our Louine would have been 88 (99 could be a typo). The only survivors listed included a McLarty from Galveston. There is a branch of the family (my great uncle) who settled in that area of the state, and this Louine could have been from that branch.
Thurman was a well-educated man, having graduated from Rice Institute (now University) in Houston, one of the more prestigious academic institutions in the country. My dad said he spoke several languages. He retired from the Army, or at least he served many years, and was a Lt. Colonel. After military, he taught spanish in a San Antonio HS. I remember as a young boy anticipating his visits because he had so many interesting tales. He brought a large Persian rug once to show us after a posting in Pakistan, I believe.
I have posted my e-mail address in case you want to communicate in that manner.
