I am looking for my McLaren uncles who were in Herrin Township Johnston Ill in 1930. Father Alexander McLaren b 1877 Renfrew Scot –m- Ellen McClure Newton Cambuslang 31 Dec 1900. Alexander sailed on the SSCorean to Massachusetts arrived 20 Sep 1904, Ellen sailed on SS Columbia arrived 7 Nov 1904 New York with son James. James b May 1904 Newton Cambuslang. Two children died before they left Scotland Agnes and James. Children born in US, Alexander c 1907 Massachusetts, Daniel c 1909 Fayette Pennsylvania, David c 1918 Herrin Williamson Illinois, Charles c1921 Herrin Williamson Ill. I have census returns that say Alexander and at least David were miners in the Herrin Township 1930 and I have a possible death for Ellen, Aug 1968. Only other information I know is Alexander was known as ‘Sandy’ and he’s mentioned as still living in Johnston City on my granddads obit from 1951. Granddad James died in Innisfail, Alberta Canada. Does this ring any bells?
