Hi Peter, Can,t seem to get an exact match. Our Isabella McLaren died in 1915 and in the 1980s my brother finally tracked down a burial site in Glasgow but the following is known: There is a link back to the launching of the Scotsman newspaper in 1810. I had always been told of the link by an old aunt, who died in the 1960s but nothing specific. The Scotsman archives do reveal the paper was partly owned (50%) by a McLaren and the early days paper was printed by a McLaren firm. We have since been able to locate the location of a family printing firm in Glasgow. A D.F. McDonald, who managed the Scotsman for many years, also married into the family ( he married one of the daughters of an Isabella McLaren), the Inverness connection which ran stationery and newsagency shops in Inverness and other railway stations. It appears several members of the family had ties into printing, newsagency etc so I suspect your McLarens are tied in somewhere. My brother in Scotland and I are still looking and will let you know if we make any breakthroughs. Isabella McLaren is my G GM. Notify Administrator about this message?
