William McLane was born about 1793 in North Carolina. Elizabeth was born Elizabeth Jane Bates, March 23, 1804 in Wilkes County, Georgia. They were married in her 18th year in Limestone County, Alabama. William died June 20, 1872 at Oxford, Calhoun County, Alabama. Elizabeth Jane died in the home of her son-in-law, William James Rhodes, May 31, 1881 in Talladega, Talladega County, Alabama. Both are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Talladega.

I am descended from William and Elizabeth's son James Fleming McLane and Cynthia Ann Pond. Their son was James Henry McLane, my grandfather. James Henry married Beaulah Linnie Dupree. Their son, my father, was John Edward McLane. He married Eula Harriet Knowles. These are all deceased.

Sarah (Sally) Ann McLane married William James Rhodes March 22, 1855 in Talladega. I have been to Oak Hill Cemetery several times and have examined both Sally Ann and Williams' tombstones. I also have taken photos of Sally Ann and William Rhodes' tombstones. In addition to her name being spelled McClane, they show her birth date as May 2, 1825 and her death date as Aug. 27, 1898. His birth date is shown as Nov. 19, 1832 and his death date as Aug. 26, 1898. I am really curious as to where the date 1891 for his date of death came from.

Caroline E. McLane was the second wife of James Harvey Joiner. They were married in Talladega March 1, 1847. I have not been able to find any birth or death dates other than birth, 1827 and death 1898. Please tell me your source of information for her date of birth being Dec 15, 1826 and her date of death being Nov 17, 1898. I have found James Joiner's birth date to be Nov 17, 1819 and his death date as Sept 6, 1881.

I have not found John W. McLane in any of my research. The only possible reference to him might be the 1830 Limestone County Census. There is a male under five years of age in the household of Will McLane. Now if the census date was before Dec 19, 1828, then that male could have been John W. However, there is also another unaccounted-for male between 20 and 30 years of age enumerated in Will McLane's household also. That could have been a brother or brother-in-law and the child under five years of age could have been his son. Do you have other information that positively identifies John W. as the son of William and Elizabeth Jane?

We agree upon the birth and death dates of William Fletcher McLane. However I have Josephine Wilson being born Sept 12, 1842 and dying Aug 14, 1889.

We also agree on the birth and death dates of Leonidas.

All I have found for Charles W. McLane's birth date is 1838, and for his death date is Dec 22, 1885. I would be interested to know where you got the birth date Feb 13, 1838 and the death date Dec 22, 1884.

We agree on Mary Hardin's death date, but differ on her birth date. I show Dec 12, 1841 whereas you show Dec 18, 1841.

We also agree on George W. McLane's date of death, but differ on his date of birth. All I could find was the year 1843. Again I would be interested in the source of this informaation.

Francis (Fannie) McLane's birth date is kind of unique to our information. You show the month and day, whereas all I know is the year. I can show by the censuses and her father's estate papers that she was born 1850. We both agree on the birth and death dates for John Huey.

I have some information on your line, but I believe you probably have more and more accurate information than me.

What I really hope is that you got your information from a family bible! That would be really awsome.

This isn't all, but it should get us started discussing our commmon ancestry. Hope to hear from you soon. My best to you and yours, Tom
