Hi Alana;
I am putting this on here as i e-mailed you over a month ago and had not heard back from you. So, I didn't know if the e-mail got through to you. I have had that happen with others.
Do you have any other information on your John W. McClane? I am still trying to find out who his parents were for sure. He is my gr, gr grandfather on my dad's side.
I have heard from another McClane/McClain cousin who is pretty sure his parent's are John and Shorty McClain who were in Lauderdale Co., AL on the 1870 census. There was a John McClain who was a Justice of the Peace in Lauderdale Co., AL for quite a few years. I have been trying to get some information on him. He married a lot of couples there.
My John W. and his wife, Mattie Rayburn, moved to Hardin Co., TN sometime between 1880 and 1900.
Charles "Charley" Alexander McClain is John W.'s brother. He also moved to TN only he moved to Dyer Co., TN where John W' son, Howell Andrew McClain moved to. Howell Andrew is my grandfather. Let me know what you think. I am willing to share whatever I have with you. Maybe we can make a connection. Thanks again
