I am still looking for information on my great grandfather, John Wilson McClain. (He also went by Wilson and Mack McClain) He was born in 1852 in Al, possibly in Lauderdale Co. John had a son named Howell Andrew (my grandfather) who was born in AL in 1877. Howell is living with a Jackson Rayburn on the 1880 census for Lauderdale CO., AL and is listed as his nephew. I am trying to find who Howell's mother was. John W. married a Mattie Rayburn in 1880 in Lauderdale Co. They had two sons, Clarence, born in 1886 in AL, and Jesse, born in 1895 in TN and two daughters, Minnie B., born in 1888 in TN, and Ada Jane, born in 1890 in TN. They moved to Hardin Co., TN sometime after 1886. I have them listed on the 1900 census in Hardin Co. Cannot find John on the 1910 census, but Mattie and is living in Mississippi CO., AR with her daughter, Mnnie, who is married to a John Westby. Jesse and Ada are living there also. Mattie must have remarried because her last name is Scott, but no husband is listed. Jess married an Ida May Parker and living Mississippi Co., AR all his life. I do not know what happened to Ada. The census said that John's parents were born in TN. I would appreciate any inforamtion on any of them. Thanks
