The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Saturday, February 3, l877 A tramping dead-beat, answering to the name of DANIEL MCLANE, broke into the residence of R. COLES on Tuesday night, and stole an overcoat belonging to WESLEY COLES, and several other articles of wearing apparel. The articles were found in Capt. BOYLE's hay-mow, but were left undisturbed until the scoundrel came after them. On Wednesday night he made his appearance, and was gently nabbed by policeman Moss. Thursday he had a hearing before Esq. Gardner, and was sent up to the bastile in default of $500 bail. His next tramp will be towards Ft. Madison, unless he kicks the jail down, as usual, and gets away. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert February 9, 2004 http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialucas Notify Administrator about this message?
