McLamb in Sampson Co, NC that are black

I am trying to trace Dublin McLamb back to slavery. He was born around 1835 in Sampson County, Halls Township in North Carolina. It was told that he escaped from Cumberland County and was never captured. He was listed in the 1870 Census living in Sampson County. He was also referred to as Dubb and Daub. His wife was Eliza Jane and I think her maiden name may have been Hobbs. I welcome any help. Thanks.
