I have read your postings in March 2002. You made mention of three brothers coming from Ireland named John, Moses and Francis. These three men are prominent among the McCowns listed in "Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virgina by Lyman Chalkley. Any library with a good genealogical department may very well have a set of the three volumes. They records extracted from the original court records of Augusta County, Virginia from 1745-1800. If you navigate to http://www.ysearch.org/ you can look in the alphabetical list of surnames, find and click on McCown, and find the Family Tree Y-DNA test results and some "pedigrees" (family trees) for 17 McCowns
tested. My results are shown under User ID G2K6P. Most of the close matches there are descended from John and Francis McCown.
