McKown, E. M. (Scat)
E. M. (SCAT) McKOWN was born in Iowa Park, Texas May 8, 1924 and passed from this life Saturday, July 26, 2003 in Pasadena, TX. She spent most of her life in the education of others having started at Jane Long Elementary in Richmond, Tx., then moving to Mae Smythe Elementary in 1957 and ending in 1991 as Assistant Principal of Sam Rayburn High School. She was a lifetime member of the Houston 100 Club, Texas State Teacher's Association, and member of the Order Eastern Star Pasadena Chapter 711. She was preceded in death by her husband Tollie H. McKown and is survived by her children, son and his wife Jerome A. & Michelle McKown, daughter A. Jean Woest, and grandchildren Hillary Woest, Madelyn & husband Chris Winneck, Heather & Torri McKown, and Kayla & Krista Schnell as well as great grandson Garrett Winneck. There will be a service celebrating her life on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Pasadena Funeral Chapel at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Don Lewis of Pasadena Blvd. United Methodist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union, 5953 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, Texas "E.M." McKown Scholarship Fund.
