Hi there, My grandfather's father moved from Viipuri, Finland to Michigan state in March/April/May 1912. His complete name was Peter Tapio Makkonen. However he changed his surname to McKone. The legend says that the name change went in this way: Makkonen, Makkone, MacKone and finally McKone. So he is NOT Irish native. All letters what my grandfather got from him were destroiyed during World War II. After war Finland has lost Viipuri to USSR. My grandfather moved to Tampere. He died in 1949. He tried to make a contact to his father, but he couln't get any connection. Peter Makkonen married in 1915(?). In 1920's they got four childrens. I have not a lot of information about them anyway... So if someone knows something, please write to me: petritcb@yahoo.com. Regards, Petri Makkonen Notify Administrator about this message?
