Hi Dawn,

my branch of the McKone's comes from Balleyconnell, County Cavan. I visited Ireland in July 1999 and discovered that the family name was spelt McKeon. My G-G-father, Michael, was born in 1856 to a Daniel and Bessy (Elisabeth) McKeon.

I am interested in building up a link with other McKone's and McKeon's and would be interested to hear more about your branch of the McKone's.

I am currentlty updating this site with a McKone family from Australia who also lived in Balleyconnell. This branch, maybe my ggfathers brother or cousin, had a James McKeon who was married to Amelia Reilly. They had a son Terry. This information is very sketchy, but may help. I have not yet posted the details onto my web site (maybe in the next few weeks I will have it up there!).
