I am researching the CROMWELL family that lived in
St. Sylvester, Lotbinière County, Quebec, Canada.
The family I am most interested in was the family of THOMAS CROMWELL. I believe he may have had a sister PRUDENCE CROMWELL who married ANDREW MCKNIGHT. This MCKNIGHT family was spelling its name during this era as MCNEIGHT. I believe ANDREW had a brother, also a blacksmith living in Leeds, Megantic County, whose father was JAMES MCKNEIGHT.
Chances are the father of ANDREW was JAMES MCNEIGHT.
PRUDENCE CROMWELL had parental consent when they married which means at least one of their parents was living at time of marriage. I believe JAMES MCNEIGHT was one of the witnesses to their marriage. PRUDENCE's father may well have been named THOMAS CROMWELL because a THOMAS CROMWELL was a witness to wedding. At first I thought it was her possible brother, but now think it is more likely her father who signed.
