Hi McKnights, Up for a mystery? I've got several McKnight women connected to one of my ancestry lines, and I feel certain that the women are also connected to each other, but can't figure out how!! Help, please! For starters, here are 2: Sarah McKnight, b. 1803, in America, probably PA; parents: Samuel and Sarah Gregg (or Greeg) McKnight. Samuel was b. County Down, Ire; came to US about 1798. Besides Sarah (the younger), Samuel and Sarah also had 5 other children: John, _____ (boy), Mary ______(girl) and _____(girl). (You be- gin to see why this is a mystery . . .) OK, now Sarah, b. 1803, grows up to marry James McKee. One of their children, Maria McKee grows up to marry David Kirkwood Gillespie, in 1856. However, Maria dies sometime be- fore 1878, when David marries Sarah Jane McKnight!! Now, I feel strongly that the original Sarah McKnight McKee, (1803) is related somehow to Sarah Jane McKnight Gillespie. Going back to Samuel and Sarah Gregg McKnight, I have noted that their son John had a son, Joseph. Sarah Jane McKnight Gillespie was the daughter of a Joseph and Mary Wiley McKnight. 1834-1913 are the dates for Sarah Jane, her father was b. 1802, her mother 1805, but of course I don't have dates for John or his supposed son Joseph, so I can't be sure this is the connection. There's another McKnight/Gillespie marriage, involving an uncle of David Kirkwood Gillespie, but I'll save that one for another time! Oh, I forgot to mention, these folks all seemed to move from PA to OH, ending up in Miami, then Shelby counties. Anyway, anyone who wants to weigh in on all this confusion, please do so! Thanks, Patty Notify Administrator about this message?
