Looking for more information on the family of Joesph N. Smith (middle name is a strong possible as being Nelson)Joseph married Nancy E. Snodgrass. (information on McKinzie see further below, let me know if you need more info).
Joseph N. Smith born 1833 died 1890
Nancy E. Snodgrass born 1835 died 1912
both are buried in Decatur Cememtery in Benton Co., Arkansas
It was said that the wife of Joseph Smith b. 1833 was Nancy Adline Rollins, although Nancy Adline Rollins is related to this family it looks like Fay Carrie Bookout who married John Walley Smith is the relative threw blood. Strong possible that William E. Bookout married Nancy Rollins, Fay Carrie Bookout was mention in Probate for Nancy as Fay Smith - to recieve $9.98 of the 199.61 that was given out.
In the 1930 census for Decatur Arkansas Joseph and Nancy son (John Walley Smith)has his parents listed as being born in Tennessee.
Joseph and Nancy had the following children (most names maybe nick names)
John Walley Smith born 1870 in Missouri
Jim Smith
Will Smith
Tom Smith
Joe Smith
Becky Smith m. Knight
Sue Smith m. Moore
and two other female children, names unknown.
Joseph N. Smith b. 1833 had bought 80 acers of land in Benton County just out-side of Decatur, his old log cabin sits downtown in Decatur, as of today. When they built the cabin and his family grew they added on to it's outter walls, when the home was being torn down, they discovered the log cabin in the middle. Petterson now owns the land that Joseph N. Smith ones own, his son John W. Smith also own the land and cabin after his daddy's death. Petterson Chickens or called Petterson Farms now owns the property, the family had traded another piece of property for it.
John W. Smith born 1870 married Fay Carrie Bookout or Carrie Fay Bookout. They had the following children
1)Flora Elizabeth Smith born 1897 m. Wallace Mckinzie (they had 3 boys and 1 girl)
2)Erva Stanley Smith born 1898 m. Mary Barnwell (they had 3 girls and 1 boy)
3)Anna Sarah Smith born 1900 m. Bert Barnwell brother of Mary Barnwell (no children of this union)Anna went by the name Annie.
4)Zelah Smith born 1905 m. Reba (last name unknown) (no children of this union)
5)Baby John Smith born 1906 died about 6 months old (name unknown)
6)Albert Smith born 1910 m. Zelma Payne (had 3 girls, and 3 boys)
7)Orlia Smith born 1912 (my grandfather)m. Ferne Evelyn Smith (had 2 girls)
8)Marilla Smith born 1915 m. Earl David Garrett (they had 1 girl and 1 boy).
9) John Nelson Smith m. 3 times first to Earlene, 2nd Gloria, 3rd Gladis. Last names of these women unknown. John goes by the name of Nelson, children: 2 boys and 1 girl.
I have the obits of John W. Smith b. 1870 and Fay Carrie Bookout b. 1896 - Louis Bookout and Marilla Elizabeth Surgnier are the parents of Fay Carrie. I have her parents obits.
Also, I have a letter from Anna (Annie Smith) written about her grandparents and father. Before the death of Orlia Smith (sometimes seen spelled Orlie) Orlia had told his daughter who was related to whom.

PS. The Smith's are a hard family to trace, due to not enough census posted for the area they lived in.
