Charles McKinzie b. 1792 SC

I am researching my McKinzie ancestors -- namely Charles who was born about
1792 in Darlington, South Carolina. I am trying to prove Charles was the son of Roderick/Roger McKinzie. Any research on Roderick is vague, to say the least. I have found a Revolutionary War
service record for a Roderick McKinzie of Darlington, but I believe he may
have been a generation back. My Roderick (by census accounts) was
born about 1765, and would have been about only 11 years old at the time this
soldier enlisted in (or his SC militia unit was transferred into) the Continental Army.

Going by census accounts, Roderick/Roger is found in:

1790 St. Thomas, Cheraws District, SC
1800 and 1810 Chesterfield, Chesterfield Co, SC
1820 Darlington Co, SC
1830 and 1840 Sevier Co, TN censuses.

I haven't found him after 1840, but he would have been in his 70-80s, so is probably deceased. The Sevier County
courthouse burned in 1856; only a surveyor's book survived. The microfilm
of the surveyor's book shows Roderick, Charles, and John as chain carriers or land owners as early as 1824. John is an
accepted son of Roderick's. All of the census information for Roderick's
family (number and ages of sons, age of Roderick, etc) are pretty
consistent, so I believe all of the above censuses belong to the same Roderick and
his family. When John and Charles each become heads of family and become
listed on censuses, their "mark" on Roderick's census disappears. I believe Cornelius/Neal is Roderick's youngest son; he also appears in the survey book.

BUT there are no probate records, tax records, marriage records, deeds, etc. left that would confirm any relationships.

Charles and family moved to Comanche Co, TX via Georgia. John moved to Pulaski Co, KY and then to Butler Co, AL in his later years. Cornelius moved to Blount Co, TN where I lose him after 1860.

I would very much enjoy discussing any of the above McKinzies/McKenzies.
