Same old hash warmed over but maybe it will help someone.

Any conclusions, additions, corrections and/or suggestions are welcome.

Jasper O’Cane McKenzie was born in Indiana in 1848 and was the son of b. OH 1821 George W. McKinsey who married Hester Ann Leach in Clinton Co, IN in 1846.

The IN1850 Census has them living in Jackson, Clinton Co, IN. with Joshua C. 3 Jasper O. 1, and Gallatin 1/12. The family following theirs in this Census were probably George’s parents, Mordecai and Catherine, both 66, looks like both born in NC.

In the TX1860 Census in Montague, Montague Co. Geo is a carpenter and his name is spelled McKenzie and his wife is Hester. The children born in Indiana are Joshua 13, Jasper 12, Oliver 10. (Gallatin is gone.) The birth of the following dates their arrival in TX –---- Dora 6 and Franklin 2.

(In the TX1860 Census in Buchanan, Johnson, Co. I found --- b. TN W. P. Gentry 29. He was a Farmer worth $800 + $507 and his wife, b. GA Maria 27 and b. TX M. C. W. 5 and two more children. (See the following and the TX 1900 Census to match details.)

(To find the TX 1870 Census look for G. W. McKensey who is on pg. 4 and the next page is 1 but skip that and the next page is 5 where you will find Jasper but it looks like all one family.

In the TX1870 Census in Precinct 3, Caddo Grove, Johnson Co. we find George 49 and Hester 44 with Joshua C. 22, - J. O. 21 and Martha C. 15, - Oliver P 20, Dora A. 14, Francis O. 12, Jefser G. 7, Edwin H. 5. ------------------- The preceding family was George and Hester and Joshua C. 22. (Good thing George was worth $1,000 + $500 and Jasper was worth $250 with all those kids and more of Jasper’s coming.)

Jasper’s family starts here.

In The TX1880 Census in Precinct 2, Parker Co. we find b. IN J. O. McKinsey 31 and b. TX M. C. W. 25 and Son A. C. 9, Son H. W. 6, Son O. B. 5 and Daughter H. O. 4/12, all born in Texas.

(For TX 1900 Census look for Joseph.)

In TX1900 in Precinct 5, Tarrant Co. we find b. (maybe Jan) IN 1849 Jasper and b. TX 1854 Martha whose pa was b. in AL and whose ma was b. In GA and who was the mother of ten children, of whom seven were still living in 1900. The children of Jasper and Martha were ……….…………………....……….as follows. b. Mar 1882 Murry, ---- b. Feb 1884 Homer, ---- b. Feb 1886 George, ---- b. Jul 1896 Lizzie, all b. TX. and mother-in-law, b. GA Dec 1830, Maria whosepa was b. in SC and whose ma was born in VA. Maria was the mother of ten children, three of whom were still living in 1910.

In the TX 1910 Census in Justice Precinct #6, (in Hamilton Co.) we find Jasper and and Martha and --- Son .. Ad C. 35, ------ Geo R. 24, ------- Hester E 14, ------ and Belle Gentry 46 and Amber 10, both b. TX.
To find Jasper in the 1920 TX Census in Heritage Quest put in Jim Atchley and pay no attention to the Hamilton, OH shown. Our guys are on the following page. The heading only shows Precinct 6 and I can’t get it to print.
In the TX 1920 Census in Hamilton Co, TX we find Jasper 71, and Martha 66 and ------------------- grandsons, b. TX Wm 13, and b. TX Ryan 10………….(The following family is Geo R. 33.)

In the TX 1930 Census in Hamilton Co, TX we find Jasper and Martha w g’son Ryan 20.

Possibly, Martha died in Hamilton Co on 10 Mar 1936, Number 14782..

Jasper died in Tarrant Co on 28 Feb 1938, Number 10154
