Hi Lois,
So far I haven't been able to absolutely prove the origin of George W. Mckinsey (1752-1840). It's just as likely that he was born in America as in Scotland. I tend to believe in the Scotland birth though.
I also believe that someone out there has letters or diaries their attic or basement that could solve the mystery of George Mckinsey's origin. At home I have a transcript of a portion of a letter written by Mordecai B. (Bruce) Mckinsey in which he says that his grandfather George Mckinsey was born in Scotland. I'll try to post it this weekend.
