Greetings, Frances McKinnon was born Dec 1872 in Arkansas, she was an author and poet. She married John Robert Morton in 1896. He was born in Sept 1862 in Virginia, and he was a doctor. (Family lore says he was involved in rebuilding/founding a hospital in Galveston after the massive hurricane there in 1900) They lived in Ward 7 Galveston City, Galveston, Texas in 1900. They had three sons, 1)John Robert Morton Jr he was born in Fredericksburg Texas on June 27,1904 and died April 1981. He married June Sweetman June 1 1928. He was an educator and taught school in Texas (1925-1936) and later was in college administration in Mississippi (State College 1939-1944) and at University of Alabama (1944-1954(?)). Morton Hall at University of Alabama-Huntsville is named after him. 2)Ward Morton born 1907 he became a professor and his retirement (1970) was announced in the newspaper in San Marcos Texas, The San Marcos Register. 3)Charles Morton born 1909 They later lived in San Marcos Texas. I found references to Frances, John R. Jr and Ward in the database of the public library there. It seems Frances wrote a column called "Your Home and Mine" for the San Marcos News in the 1930-40's Frances McKinnon Morton died March 1950. Frances was my paternal grandmothers aunt by marriage I am attempting to find info on both the McKinnons and Mortons. Thank You for Reading Good Hunting! Jay S.
