Neil McKinnon married Flora McInnes in Sleat, Isle of Skye, on 19 June 1851.Son Charles born 10 Oct.1851. Family departed Campbeltown on the Hercules 26 Dec 1852. Because of an outbreak of Yellow Fever the Hercules was quarantined in Queenstown (Cork).
Flora and Charles arrived in Melbourne on the Argyle in Oct. 1852.
Family oral history has it that Neil died in transit. We can find no record of him dying on the Hercules. Similarly for the Argyle.
Does anyone know of records in Cork of deaths on ships in port or can add anything to his mystery.
