Hello Robin, I've just gotten back into the genealogy business after a 10 year sabbatical. I believe we have the same gggg grandfather. I've run into a few roadblocks myself but I believe the gist of what I'm going to tell you is correct. I'm not at home right now so I dont have access to all my notes but for starters, here's a thumbnail sketch: Lauchlin McKinnon is one of five sons I show in the Brownsville Tennessee (Haywood County)area of Neil McKinnon born 1803 in probably Moore Co. N.C. The other sons of Neil were John B.( my GGG grandfather), Daniel, Neil, and William. Our elder Neil is one of 9 sons of Alexander McKinnon (born 1779) and Margaret McAuley (married 1792), both born in Scotland. The other sons of Alexander and Margaret were Laughlin born 1793, William born 1795, Angus born 1805, Alexander born 1814 John born 1807, Daniel B. born 1813, Murdock born 1817, Anne Elizabeth born 1819, John T. born 1821 and Roderick B. Born 1824. You are correct that a migration from Moore Co N.C. to Haywood Co Tn took place some time prior to the 1850 census. Our GGGG grandfather Neil was part of that migration. Later other migrations took place. My GGG grandfather John B. came to White Co, Arkansas and your GGG grandfather Lauchlin traveled to Texas where he joined his uncle Murdock. Norman was probably a son of Murdock. Like I said, I dont have access to all my notes at the moment and to be honest I havent concentrated on any of Neil's sons except for my GGG grandfather John B. Now for the roadblock. I haven't yet determined whether Alexander's father is Archibald who came to Georgia from Scotland in 1775, or John McKinnon. If you're still there and would like to correspond, let me know through the forum or my email. In a few days I will be able to supply some other info, dates, birthplaces, etc. AGAPE, Ken
