I came across this estate settlement that may be helpful to someone. This is not my family although they lived in Montgomery County, Indiana for awhile which is where my McKenney family lived. I have no further information other than what I am posting here.
"Josiah Franklin McKinnie - died intestate in New Orleans, Lousiana about 15 Jan 1847. He was 20 years and upwards. No wife or children. Left an estate in Montgomery County, IN of about $630. He was not an inhabitant of Montgomery County, IN. His heirs were Walter McKinnie, P.[Patrick] C. McKinnie, James McKinnie, Isabella Miller, Anna Mary McKinnie."
Indiana Marriages show that Isabella McKinnie m. Memorial F. Miller on 10 Sept 1840; Walter McKinnie m. Elizabeth A. Miller on 28 Jan 1841; Patrick C. McKinnie m. Nancy Miller on 16 Feb 1842 - all in Montgomery County.
I believe that at least Walter and Patrick were in Washington County, Iowa in 1851 where they appeared on a tax list.
