The 1850 Census of Lamar Co. TX (p. 304) showed a 40 year old John McKINNIE, born in KY, with wife Evaline 27 born in TN, and three young children born in TX: Laurence T 7, Milton P 5, and Mary J 1. Listed with them were three MEBANE brothers: John A 26, Joseph H 36, and Nathaniel 20, born in TN as was John's wife Evaline. Was Evaline their sister?
What happened to this McKINNIE family? John apparently was not John Madison McKINNEY (1809-1875, buried Friendship Cem., Lamar Co.) whose wife was Martha, with a different list of children.
