Some additional information about Colen McKenny, who those interested.
Born : Estimated 1699 Scotland England Border
Captured at the battle of Preston 1715,
First Jacobite Rebellion one of the first to be placed on trial for the rebellion. Trial date 30 March 1716. found guilty put on first ship leaving England shipped to Antigua. Arrived Antigua 1716.
In 1719 transported from Antigua to James River Plantations, indentured to Tartlon Woodson. A parish member of Tartlon Woodson parish was Alexander McKinney possibly brother or father to Colen. ( would explain the reason for transport from Antigua)
Indtuture lasted until the death of Tartlon in 1762.
Colen Purchases land in Washington County Va, along Cedar Creek about 1769.
Colen serves on a jury and is given a registered brand, showing his is unable to write .
Two years latter he again serves jury duty and he is now Collin McKinney and able to write.
Land surveys list the property as being owned by Collin McKinney.
The last recorded record for Collin McKinney in Washington County Va is in 1814 when his property is used as a property line in a newly recorded deed to James and John Reed.
The last record for This Colin McKinney is the last Will and Testament of his neighbor James Bryant who claims he is the father of Joseph McKinney son of Catherine McKinney daughter of Collin McKinney in 1846
