John R. McKinney, Blacksmith to the Osage
Anyone with any idea who John R. McKinney was who served as blacksmith to the Osage?I've not seen the Kansas Historical Quarterly in which he's mentioned, but Google Book Search has "...Charles Mongrain and Antoine Penn; Blacksmiths John R. McKinney ("removed")..."
Antoine Penn, an interpreter (as was Mongrain) died in 1853 so this would have been in the early 1850s perhaps late 1840s.
