Your John L. McKinney was enumerated in the 1910 census in Brookville, Campbell County, Virginia with his wife, Ellen.
John was b. ca 1855 in Virginia; his marriage to Ellen was his second marriage; he had been married for 21 years. Ellen was b. ca 1855 in Arkansas; it was also her second marriage and she had been married for 21 years. (They had married about 1889 when they were both ca 34 yo). Ellen reported that she had had no children.
If you are looking for descendants of John L. McKinney, Ellen would not have been their mother.
The 1920 census is consistent with the information in the 1920 census.
Although I do not have specific information about your McKinney family, I am interested in all McKinneys in Campbell County. If I can help at all, I would be happy to. For instance, what is the source for the birth date of your John Luther McKinney? I know the family of another John L. McKinney but he was born ca 1859 and not 1855.
