William V. McKinney Project
Cousins,
Currently we are in the midst of collecting all information about the offspring of the 21 children of William Vanhook McKinney, Sugar Creek Township, Clinton County, IN.
William V. fathered children with his three wives, Mary Ann Cooper, Angeline Thurman Low, and Martha Harrell, after he left McKinney, KY, in the late 1820's.
He landed in Clinton County in 1830 and that is where the project begins to identify the five or six subsequent McKinney generations.
During the years and generations since 1830 there have been many McKinney offspring and much movement of McKinney families so we are trying to identify who and where these many cousins are today. We also are interested in details of their life stories.
The William V. McKinney Project is being conducted by Evelyn Ploughe in the Genealogy Department in the Frankfort Public Library where much other McKinney information is being gathered to create a McKinney research center.
If you want to request or to share information write to Evelyn at the library which is at 208 W. Clinton St., Frankfort, IN 46041.
The information collection is still being conducted so any and all information will be appreciated.
Also, visit my blogsite to learn about the McKinney stories in my book, "The Americans."www.donaldlafon.blogspot.com
About 60% of the 13 pioneer/western short stories my book is about McKinneys.
Thanks for your interest in both subjects.
Cousin Don
