His will is signed 'McKenney'. Which goes to show what I've often said . . . that spelling was not the BIG thing to our ancestors that it is for us.
I have seen a Bible of the Pendleton County, Kentucky McKinney/McKenneys which was dated 1830 +/- ten years or so. On the same page, clearly the same family, both spellings were used!
My brother McKENNEY's yDNA is a nearly perfect match with another McKINNEY's yDNA. My brother's yDNA is not even close to any other McKinney/McKenney by any spelling. Which shows a clear genetic link even though the names are spelled differently
