RE: Lucy Mary McKinney and her spouses and family
I am looking for information on my g grandmother Lucy Mary McKinney. She was born December 8, 1877, supposedly in Independence County, Arkansas. According to the death certificate her parents were Rubin Lane of Georgia and a Booker from Tennessee. She died July 3, 1933 at 3 am in Jackson County, township of Bird, in Arkansas. She was 65 years, 6 months and 25 days at the time of her death. She died of Chronic Interstitial Nephritis and Uremia (kidney failure). She was buried in Tuckerman, Arkansas. She was the widow of Arch Kennedy. The informant for the information was William Kennedy. Lucy was married to my g grandfather Charles Kirkpatrick Dearman who was 30 years old at the birth of his first child which would make him born around 1874. He was originally from Kentucky and was engaged in farming as his occupation. Lucy was 25 at the birth of her first child originally from Arkansas, and was a housewife. They lived in Yell County, in the town of Bluffton, Arkansas when their children were born. Their first child was James Henry Dearman ( first name originally Sam, but he hated that name and changed it to James, information given by my sister). james was born October 2, 1904. Their second child also a son, was Willard D. Dearman born either 1905 or 1906. Since Lucy's father was a Lane how did she get the name McKinney? Is it possible she was illigitimate, a child from a previous marriage of her mother? I have been unable to find any information on Lucy, Charles, Rubin, Booker or Kennedy. I was also told that Lucy was a full blooded Native American and was to be granted land by the government because of this Native heritage but died before she received it. On her tombstone her name is listed as Lucy Kennedy Gwen, obviously this info is wrong. Any information on my g grandmother and her family would greatly be appreciated. Lucy also lived with a Mr. Briggles because he hated James and ran him out of town and any close surrounding areas. James ended up in Little Rock, AR and met his wife Lillian Mae Holder and they married October 14, 1929. James died in 1979 in Cabot, Arkansas and is buried in Sumner Cemetary. Willard died in 1982 in Clovis, California where he resided with his wife Mattie and their adopted son Charles (Chuck) Dearman. I believe Mattie is deceased now but don't know when she passed away. I am not looking ofr money or land just my family heritage so that I can pass it down to my children and the children of James and Lillie's son, Jerry Sloan Dearman who passed away in 1982. Again your help is needed to locate family members. Sheila Pierce
