Heather,
I spotted his name when I walked through the Alamo in 1964 while I was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. Of course, he drew my immediate attention.
The closest I ever came to finding out anything about him, other than what the Daughters of the Alamo (I think that's there name) have on him was when I posted a query a couple years ago on the Internet.
I received a reply from a woman in Tennessee whose maiden name was McKinney and who had been told while growing up that she was related to someone who fought and died at the Alamo.
She never had any proof, but it kind of squares with the information from the Alamo historians that Robert came to Texas directly from Tennessee as part of Bowie's group of fighters.

P.S. My McKinneys came from County Donegal to Pa. in 1823, settling near Pittsburgh. One of the adult sons who came with them was a Robert, but he did not go to Texas. Got rich in Pa. instead.
