Karen Please e-mail me. I have tried to reply but my message is returned.
So glad to hear from you. Would you please forward this page to me. I have
pulled up Burk County on the Gen Web, but not sure I have found what you
wanted me to see. I could not find Genweb site at pearsn.txt at
c-23.rootsweb.com. Why do you think this might be the same Wilson
McKinney?
Wilson McKinney was my ggrandfather. He was born around 1828 maybe in
Russell County, Hem Catherine Cantrell in Lebanon Va Russell Co. in
1851.
Their children were listed in the 1860 Wise Co census as Nathan 10
William 8 Stacia 6 Leana 11 mo.
His son, my g grandfather , was Isaac Lee McKinney b 1865.
Isaac's son Nathaniel was my grandfather. Marinda McKinney Mosley that m
John Vance was believed to be Wilsons sister.
Marinda was born in 1813 in Burk CO NC.
In 1840 there was aWilsonin Yancey Co .Also in Yancey at this time
was a Rolan, Samuel, Charles, Reuben, Thomas, & James
McKinney. I am trying to find out if any of these could be his father or
brother.
Also looking at the possibility that a Nathan could have been Wilson's
brother. There was a Nathan age 19 b Nc
that was listed in the 1850 Russell Co Va census. Wilson was there
living in the household with a Rebecca & Polly Derryberry.
Don't know their connection with him. Never saw them again. He m
Catherine in 1851.
I also found a Wilson McKinney b 1803 Nc that had a brother Nathan b
1807 d 1808. I am also looking at the possibility that
this could have been Wilson's father. It seems that the name Nathan is
used many times in connection with a Wilson McKinney.

I alos found a Wilson McKinney born in Va. in 1761 moved to NC Sc & Al
died in 1828. Some of his children were Mary,
John, Wilson, Samuel ,Thomas, & William.
My Wilson ( I think) was in the 13th Cavalry Army 1863 from Carter Co.
CoA. He was listed as a blacksmith.
I also found my Wilson & a Nathaniel McKinney listed in 1853 Russell
County Va Roads as tithables on the road.
I know that my ggrandfather Isaac had relatives in WVa. None of the
family know anything about his family. Its seems that my
grandfather & his siblings either didn't know or weren't talking. One
relative said her father always changed the subject if ask
any questions about his family. My father &
Aunts have no clue.
