trying to trace a canada connection

My father William Scott Mckinnell born in Dumfries 1926 had a son during the second world war(not in Wedlock)Mother I think was Margaret Macmillian/Mclennan.
Mother was killed and the son survived, fatther set up trust fund as he was fighting in Burma. Gave his son up to a afamily we think in th Castle douglas area in Scotland.
The lad Grows up does well for himself goes to St.Andrews and qualifies as a dentist. Moves to Canada has his own Family then tires to contact his real father,but mydad being the awkward devil he was decided that it was all in the past.
I have a half brother out there I wish to meet and try and catch up he must now be in his 60's. I don't know what else todo tried Salavation Army missing persons, Tried emailing people with the name Mckinnell. HELP!
