Hello,

My name is Ian MacKinnell, and I live in Australia. My grandfather (William MacKinnell) was a Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Navy, and came from Macclesfield, near Manchester, in England.

Apparently, there are quite a few McKinnells in that area.

I was pleasantly surprised to find an Ian McKinnell in this forum. My relatives in Macclesfield spell their surname McKinnell, too. But my grandfather always spelt it MacKinnell.
