Obituary for Stephen A. McKinley
The death of Stephen McKinley at his home near Polk last Thursday removes one of the oldest and best known citizens of the county. He had lived to the ripe old age of 79 years, and a wife, four sons and one daughter survive him. The funeral, which was a very large one, occurred on Friday morning. Mr. McKinley was a prominent man in his day and was respected for many genial qualities which he possessed. May he rest in peace.

S. A. McKinley, farmer, was born in Mercer county, in 1820. Came to this county in 1847. Has five sons and one daughter.

The following information as printed in the booklet of " The Second Gathering of the Clan MacKinlay at Detroit, Michigan, USA September 10, 1894."
William McKinley, brother of the immigrant James McKinley, is said to have settled in the South, leaving among others a son Stephen who had a son Stephen, who lived at Polk borough, PA. in 1888, who had a son Rev. Russell A. McKinley, who in 1888 resided at Clearfield, Penn. William is also said to be the ancestor of John McKinley, Justice of the Supreme Court.
