HI, Rebecca, My husband is also descended from Hazaiel through his daughter Dianna Belle. The family "history" is at least consistent! DIanna Belle's youngest, Katie Vashti Albee Hobbs, told about being related to President McKinley till her dying days. I, too, have looked and I can't find the connection either. I know it would tickle my husband's last remaining aunt, Mildred, who's in her 90's, no end if I could show her how it fits together, so I have spent several evenings & Sunday afternoons trawling the internet, hoping to find that magical connection, but so far with no luck! However, I think it's interesting that the stories passed down in your branch of the family agree--that really seems to indicate that there should be something we're missing! Hmmm. While, we're visiting, I read on your worldconnect website, I think, that James Edward, Dianna Belle, George B., & Hazaiel Lincoln McKinley were adopted. Could you tell me your source for the adoption info? (I'm a historian by training, so I always like to know those things!) And, do you know if they were siblings that were adopted by Hazaiel and Lucy? (Adopting 4 separately seems unlikely, but not impossible.) Is there information on who their biological parents were? IE Were they relatives or strangers? Did they come on an orphan train? Is there any way I could get a copy from you of the appropriate entries in Dianna Belle's bible? (or indeed, being greedy, of all the McKinley or Albee entries in it!) I have to admit that I've only begun working on the McKinley connection the past year, so I have lots of question marks in my mind and on my pedigree sheets! And Aunt Millie isn't getting any younger, so I'd like to get more information put together for her to look over, too. I'm actually planning to head down to Mendota, MO in about a week to try to find the cemetery where many of these folks are buried. I do wish Aunt Millie were a little spryer as I hear it's difficult to find, but I think the trek of several hours each way would be too much for her, so I'll have to try to find it myself! If the timing works out, I'll also try to hit the Putnam County Library in Unionville, as well as the cemetery there. Is there anything you'd like me to check out while I'm in that area? Hoping to hear from you soon! Marcia Notify Administrator about this message?
