I just learned my ggg grandfather was JOHN MCKINLEY. From your message it sounds like the John you are looking for is the same John. I just obtained a copy of JULIA MCKINLEY BYERS' 1919 Illinois death certificate showing John as her father. It also showed she was born in Greene Co. IL in 1852? and she was 87. I have a 1905 four generation picture of her and also a later photo. The reason I beleive we're talking about the same John is her sister is my gg grandmother MARY JANE MCKINLEY FAWCETT born in Ohio in 1824 and died in Illinois in 1888.
From the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, I found the following marriages in Fulton County. I don't know who Julia & Mary Jane's siblings are, but I did find the following names listed that would be the right time frame for the children you mentioned:
Alexander married Lydia Faust in 1841
Calvin married Mahala Kernes in 1848
Melvina married Lorenzo Litchfield in 1853
Mary Jane married Levi Fosset(Fawcett) in 1847
Julia married James Marsh in 1855 (I believe Julia may have been married one more time before she married Mr. Byers. In 1867 Mrs. Julia A. Marsh married Charles Rankin in Fulton Co.)
I have information on names associated with the McKinley family that I'd be happy to share. FAWCETT, LEININGER, & MERRILL.
I'd appreaciate any information you could give me about John McKinley and his wife.
