To Develop Mine of Mrs. McKinley
ELY (Nev.), October 23 - The McKINLEY Mining and Smelting Company, which owns valuable gold and copper properties at this place, has at last been reorganized on a large scale. The Butcher Boy group of claims, adjoining the McKinley group, has been purchased for $45,000, and other claims may be taken over in the near future. The wife of the late President McKinley and several of her relatives are heavily interested in the McKinley company. It was organized six or seven years ago, but in 1902 the mines were closed down, the money advanced by Mrs. McKinley and the other stockholders having been squandered by the fiscal agents who plunged the company into ruin.
