When my father was 19 yrs old he was stationed in Lubbock, Tx. It was during WWII and he was in Officers Training School. While he was there he met and fell in love with a young girl named Charlotte McKinley. Charlotte had an older sister named Ann. Charlotte was only about 17 at the time. Because of their ages and the uncertainty of the times and because he knew he was going to be transfered for further training no promises were made between them. Later he met and married my mother and Charlotte met and married a Navy man.
Before he was transfered out of Lubbock Charlotte gave him a picture of herself. He told me her mother didn't want her to give it to him and he would like to see it returned to her family. Charlotte was a very pretty young girl. If this family sounds familiar to anyone doing McKinley research please contact me at daylily6552@hotmail.com.
By the way he named me Charlotte Ann after Charlotte and her sister Ann.
