Mike, Thank you for responding to my posting about the Sir John McKim. I do not believe that he was knighted as I have not found any supporting information that proves he was. I have contacted many places in Ireland and no record of it. I did get a response back from PRONI that there is a rental agreement for a John McKim in Ireland can not remember the date of it as I have not sent out for it as of yet. I do not know if it is of this John or another John. I have a news paper article from the Baltimore Sun paper on a McKim Antique show dated February 7, 1982. There is no mention of him being Sir John it refers to him as John McKim. It speaks of how the McKims in Baltimore Maryland descended from John McKim of Londonderry Ireland so I am going to assume the information in this Newspaper article was gathered from the McKim's of Baltimore who were putting their valuables on display for everyone to view. It say's the first McKim to arrive in America was Thomas, who settled in 1734 along the Brandywine River in New Casltle County, Del., near Philadelphia. He was the son of John McKim of Londonderry, Ireland, a prominent merchant and shipper who had earlier emigrated from Scotland. One of Thoas's sons was named John McKim, but was often call John McKim Sr or Quaker John. And it goes on and on. But as you see there is no mention that John McKim of Londonderry was a Sir and matter of fact it says he was a Merchant and Shipper. So I think this goes to prove he was not a Sir at all. Any information that you have gathered that would be of help to me of the McKim's from Ireland please email me at cgutermuth@yahoo.com. If I could be of help to you just let me know. I am curious though what is your lineage where does it start and end? Carolyn
