Hi Carol,
We lost much of our info on the McKim line when my grandfather died when my dad was only 18 months old. My father began researching his lineage when he was in his 50s, but unfortunately, he also passed away early at 59. That said, I've been paging through his research and see that my family came from Ontario. It appears he traced the lineage back to Luke McKim in Ireland, b 1765. He was the father of John, born about 1800. John had eight sons and one daughter. Sons included John, William and James. William and James, the youngest moved to Dundee, Scotland, where James married Jane McMullen. William died here. They had 8 children, including John, William and James. William was born in Scotland in 1861. In 1865 James emigrated to the U.S. and then went to Ontario. It appears his wife and three of the children, including William (b 1861) came over in 1867.
I'll keep looking through my information, some of which is likely wrong, but it seems there are too many similarities with your information for there to not be a link.
In recent years, after 1880, I'm more familiar with the line that moved to Kansas.
