McKim/Davenport- Ohio/Colorado
Posted by: mc Date: April 23, 2001 at 07:23:05

I have several paintings in my home signed "A. McKim". Did find a diary in my grandmother's things-she was Susan Davenport Potter Stormer (her mother was a McKim-unknown first name.) from Ohio originally. The diary describes the peaks in Colorado that were painted and I'm having trouble discerning whether "A" was male or female or possibly there were two artists with the same first initial. At least the male lived in Colorado for a time and had land holdings there. The signature is always inserted in these paintings as part of the scenery...snow or water in a stream....Does this sound familiar to anyone? They are dated the mid 1800's. Thanks, Mary
