I believe that Simpson was the nephew of Thomas McKillip (who died in 1823 and was buried in the Revolutionary War Cemetary in Salem). Simpson was the youngest son of Thomas' elder brother, John McKillip. Both John and Thomas were sons of James McKillip and are named in Jame's will of 1793. Simpson inherited the family farm from John in the latter's will of 1825. He sold it out of the McKillip family in 1828 to a family named Cutler. Simpson is said to have eventually moved to Unionville, Connecticut. I can get back to you with more details and on the names of his siblings; the only ones I recall offhand were John Jr. (also died 1825 and buried in Salem)and David, who was apparently owner of the farm briefly, but later moved to Keeseville, NY. He was Asa Fitch's main source of information regarding the family in Fitch's manuscript history of Washington County compiled inthe mid-19th century. I am not related to the McKillip family but am the present owner of the family farm in Jackson, NY (postoffice address, though, is Salem - just across the river!). I've been researching the history of the house and would love to find out more about the family who built it! Let me know if I can be of any more help, or if you could share some information with me.
